Up close and personal

We were at the zoo one nice winter day enjoying the animals at the zoo. We practically had the place to ourselves. All of a sudden a door by the elephants opened or something letting out really loud noises. This in turn scared the poor peacock and he defended himself. I have seen them with their feathers out but never this close and the things we saw were truly amazing. First, it is a gradual rise of the feathers. It is true art how all the feathers have their own places and purpose, as you can see from the behind picture. Once fully spread it walks around as it shakes its feathers starting at the base and working up. It is hard to describe but was so neat, a must see. It stayed like this forever and finally the feathers folded and tucked back to where they started out. Wow, is all I could say and check out the colors.
